Pencader news you can use
Vol. 1, No. 1 - August 31, 2006
We put this together
quickly as an informal newsletter to keep you up to date with all that is
happening here at Pencader.
LUNCHES We are meeting with Shop Rite tomorrow to get our menu changed. Right now we only have cold sandwiches and salads along with milk for purchase. Hopefully by early next week, we will have some hot foods to offer. We will also have a snack machine and a juice machine. Lunch is $3.
BUSSES Our bus company is working hard to make changes in the routes to accommodate the overflows. There will be a second bus added to Route 5. If there are any bus problems still occurring, please call Mr. Jones.
SCHEDULE CHANGES - This Friday (8th) will be the last day for drop/add. Forms are available in school but need a parent signature. Mrs. Geesaman has made many schedule changes and will continue to work with you for what is best for your student academically.
TIME SCHEDULE The time schedule listed on the website has been updated. The correct dismissal time is 2:32. Homeroom starts at 7:40.
ABSENCES AND LATES Thanks to all those parents who have called to let us know a child will be absent. Students are still required to bring in a note to excuse their absence. This will allow the student to make up any missed work. Unexcused absences will cause the work for that day to be counted as a zero. Late students must sign in at the office.
SPIRIT DAY Next Friday is our first football game. Football players are to wear their jerseys to school. Cheerleaders will be sporting part of their uniform as well. Students may wear Pencader casual wear (on sale with Mrs. Geesaman). Long sleeve t-shirts are on sale for $10, sweats $15 and hoodies $17.50.
LOCKERS they are coming! We are working on donations right now.
PTA The parent response was overwhelming at the Grand Opening! More than 3 pages of parents and phone numbers were collected. Next week you will receive a more specific flyer about PTA and your ability to volunteer. We do need to start a PTA so anyone interested in getting that up and running should call Mrs. Geesaman at the school.
CLUBS Mr. Heebner is going to have a Drama Club that will put on a play in the spring. He will need many, many parent volunteers to help.
Mr. Quimby is starting the Student Government. Sign-ups are on his door.
Science Olympiad will be sponsored by the Science Dept. There is a statewide competition in the spring.
Math League is getting started by the Math teachers.
We will have a National Honor Society. We must obtain the charter first.
Mrs. Ryan is running a school newspaper.
Ms. Hughey is sponsoring the yearbook club.
We are getting up and running! Please be patient as we journey down this road. We are open to your suggestions and will try our best to meet all of your needs. We still need some painting and beautification done at the school.
Thank you for entrusting your childs academic future to us. We look forward to working with you for years to come.
