NEXT YEAR AT PENCADERCHARTER

SCHEDULING AND CURRICULUM

Next year’s scheduling will take place after spring break.  Mrs. Geesaman will visit each classroom to go over the scheduling process with the students and talk about their options with the available courses.  A scheduling form will be required to be filled out in order to save a schedule for next year.  Students will begin filling those out at school and then bring them home for parental input.  Any honors courses or AP courses must have teacher recommendation.  All scheduling forms will require a parent signature.

New next year – Business courses will be year long courses.  In keeping with the state and the changes they will be requiring for career pathways, we will be ahead of the game.  There will be a year long foundations course taught by 4 different teachers on a rotational basis.  Anyone who did not take Business Operations this year and all incoming 9th graders will be required to take this course.  Entrepreneurship and Marketing will have a second year component for those students who took a semester this year.  All other students may take these courses as full year courses.  Other business courses are being developed at this time.

Physical Education will be offered to juniors first.  Students need a credit of physical education to graduate.  We will be using a combination of the weight room, outdoors on nice days, and classroom instruction to complete our phys ed program.

Our language program is expanding with the addition of Spanish III and Mandarin Chinese.

Other electives will be offered as half year courses based on student requests.  Such offerings will include public speaking, yearbook, drama, Science Olympiad, Stock Exchange, and Health.

Three AP courses will be offered – US History, Biology and Statistics.  11th grade offerings will include Chemistry with a lab and World History.

We continue to grow with your support and cooperation.  Thank you for entrusting your students’ education to us.
