- Kohl's Cares
- Dear Students, Alumni, Parents, Faculty, Administration and Friends of Pencader Charter High School,
I am sending this follow-up email to build awareness about the Kohl's Corporation's initiative to award $500,000 to twenty schools through it's outreach program called Kohl's Cares. If you've ever been to Kohl's, they often have stuffed animals, books, etc. on sale to fund the program. The way the contest works is that the twenty schools throughout the United States with the most votes get a cash prize of $500,000. They are giving away ten million dollars to these twenty schools and the contest runs from July 7 to Sept. 3, 2010. All K-12 public, private, charter, parochial and not-for-profit schools are eligible. The one caveat is that the winning school must have at least one idea submitted. As of right now, we have several ideas!!
How can you help? Voting for Pencader could not be easier. I am attaching a link that you will need to follow in order to cast your vote. I have been running a vigorous Facebook campaign on my own, and as of today, we have about 419 votes, but I need your help to spread the word. If every student, parent, faculty member and friend of Pencader cast five votes for PCHS, we could be one of the twenty lucky schools to win $500,000 from the Kohl's Corporation. You can also cast your vote via Twitter as well. In order to vote, you will need to "like" Kohl's, but who doesn't like Kohl's? The most important thing you can do is SPREAD THE WORD to your family and friends. Put the link on your Facebook and Twitter profiles so that your friends can help us as well. We have our work cut out for us, as of today, Merrit Trace Elementary School of San Jose, California holds twentieth place with 8,113 votes. As you can see, we have our work cut out for us, but where there is a will, there is a way. We CAN do this if we set our minds to it, and best of all, its free. Let's use technology to our benefit.
When out there voting, make sure to submit your ideas to help Mr. Catts decide what to do when we WIN the money! I have been very impressed by the ideas posted by our students and Pencader family. Some of the ideas you will see posted if you follow the link below are for things like adding an art program, sports fields, improved cafeteria, auditorium, library, school band, enclosed walkway between buildings, etc. We are full of great ideas and can find plenty to do with half a million dollars!!
Please support my grass roots effort to help PCHS win this money by following this link. http://bit.ly/b9na7E. You can make a tremendous difference by showing yur support for PCHS, and in doing so, you will help us prepare students for the future.
Remember, you can vote up to five times for Pencader, but most importantly, spread the word to friends, family members or anyone who would be willing to take two seconds of time to vote for our school.
We CAN do this!!! Our school could do many great things with a half a million dollars. Thanks so much for your support and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Sylvia
